Hackers put city of 1.6 million inhabitants in a state of emergency

It's not the most dangerous system invasion in history, but possibly it was one of the noisiest: on Friday night to Saturday, a group of hackers kept the 156 emergency sirens in Dallas, Texas, linked by 90 minutes. According to Reuters, the noise only stopped after engineers manually switched off the siren's radio systems.

Speaking to reporters, Rocky Vaz said: "At this point, we can tell you with a good deal of confidence that this was somebody outside of our system that got in there and activated our sirens " adding, also was "a very, very rare incident " and one of the biggest public emergency system intrusions in history.

Of course, this emergency sirens moment generated a wave of concern, mistrust, and then humor on Twitter. The city's system engineers have already called the Federal Communications Committee to assist in investigating the case, but it is not yet possible to determine who was responsible for the invasion. Emergency dispatchers received around 4,400 calls between 11:40 and 3:00 a.m.

According to a representative of the city hall, the attack was done by someone who lives in the area. Because of him, the city's emergency system was shut down for more than 24 hours until Sunday night, when warnings were standardized.
