Samsung will sell 70 million OLED screens for iPhone 8
Apple ordered 70 million OLED screens from Samsung, said Nikkei Asian Review, citing sources close to technology vendors, suggesting that at least one of the models to be released will have a curved screen.
The latest rumours indicated that the company is expected to release three new smartphones on the market in 2017: a "normal " version, a Plus version and a commemorative version of the iPhone's 10-year existence.
One of them could be called iPhone Edition, instead of "normal " iPhone 8, with the base price expected to exceed, for the first time, the $1,000 barrier.
Among the hypotheses at the time, already suggested models with OLED screen, in addition to others with LCD screen and even some mockups without physical buttons.
The only "confirmed " features for the iPhone Edition would be a five-inch screen, wireless charging, and dual cameras.
The five-inch screen will refer to "usable space, " meaning the future iPhone should have a "full " 5.8-inch screen on a device that is about the size of a 4.7-inch iPhone - thanks to the screen curved.
